Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword has surpassed two million wishlists ahead of its 4th September 2026 release on PS5, suggesting strong consumer interest in what will be the series' first major new entry since 2006's Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. The milestone caps off a strong year for the Japanese publisher, which has also released Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata and Monster Hunter Stories 3, and while wishlist figures don't guarantee sales, they indicate healthy pre-launch momentum.

The interest appears to stem from a mix of long-time series fans, action game enthusiasts and general trust in Capcom's recent output. A playable demo has proved divisive, with some praising it while others found the regular enemies too easy and the boss fight disproportionately difficult; Capcom has said the full game will be tougher than the demo suggested.
