Rusty Goffe, who played an Oompa-Loompa in the 1971 film *Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory*, has returned for Netflix’s game show *Wonka’s Golden Ticket*, appearing alongside his actor son, Ben. The programme also features an AI recreation of Gene Wilder’s voice, made with the approval of Wilder’s widow; Goffe said hearing it again was emotional and “lovely”, despite the technology being controversial.

The nine-episode series sees 12 contestants compete in increasingly unusual Wonka-themed challenges for a prize worth about $3 million, described as a lifetime’s supply of money. It includes elaborate recreations such as the famous elevator and a chocolate room with a waterfall, while its new Oompa-Loompas come in varied shapes and sizes. Goffe, now 77, said returning to the Wonka world was initially strange but that he was delighted to work with his 33-year-old son.
