David Borenstein, who won an Oscar for directing 'Mr. Nobody Against Putin', has joined the documentary 'A Fox Under a Pink Moon' as executive producer. Directed collaboratively by Mehrdad Oskouei and Soraya Akhlaghi, the film has won recognition at major international festivals including IDFA in Amsterdam and Full Frame in Durham, positioning it as an Academy Award contender for the upcoming ceremony.

The documentary captures the personal account of Akhlaghi, a 16-year-old Afghan refugee based in Iran, as she attempts to escape an arranged marriage and reach Europe. Notably, Akhlaghi served as both creative contributor and cinematographer, creating all the film's artwork and shooting most footage on her mobile phone. Borenstein praised the film as an unusual collaboration that achieved something neither filmmaker could have made alone, highlighting how Akhlaghi transformed difficult circumstances into artistic expression he described as resilient and distinctive.
