Outkast Sue Ovrkast for Having “Nearly Identical” Name
Outkast are suing Oakland rapper-producer Ovrkast, whose real name is Silas Wilson, over alleged trademark infringement, unfair competition and breach of contract. The lawsuit argues that “Ovrkast” is nearly identical to Outkast and could confuse the public, potentially suggesting an association with the Grammy-winning duo.
The case was filed in Georgia on 16 September by High Schoolers LLC, which manages Outkast’s name and trademark. The complaint alleges that Ovrkast agreed to stop using his original name and adopt “Overkxst”, but later failed to do so. It also cites his 2025 comments about repeatedly being accused of copying Outkast’s name. Outkast previously sued EDM duo ATLiens in 2024; that case was settled earlier this year.
