Outraged woman says she left her car at a Kia dealership for new tire… only for mechanic to strip it of parts to fix another vehicle
A Louisiana woman has accused a Kia dealership of stripping parts from her car without permission after she took it in for tyre repairs, prompting the company to sack the employee involved following an internal review. Shirley Poullard's SUV was towed to Kia of Lake Charles after a tyre blew out on the interstate, and weeks later she discovered its hood open and two fuel injectors removed to service another customer's vehicle, sparking a heated confrontation that she filmed and shared online. The case highlights concerns about transparency and consent in vehicle servicing, and went viral after Poullard publicly called out the dealership's conduct.
Poullard brought her vehicle in on 17 June and initially received no update for days before being told the tyre damage was not covered by her warranty. When she confronted staff, service manager Adrian Walker admitted to borrowing two injectors and offered free replacements, though she says the car now runs worse than before. The dealership waived her $175 diagnostic fee, apologised, and confirmed the service manager was dismissed following its review, while Poullard says she plans to seek legal advice.
