Filipino filmmaker Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan has finalised the cast for his debut feature Hum, led by P-pop star Taneo Sebastian and actress Ymeiliza Tabora. This marks Taneo's first lead film role, and the project extends Eblahan's growing reputation following his Sundance-winning short The Headhunter's Daughter and the acclaimed Vox Humana, which won prizes at Clermont-Ferrand and Singapore's film festival.

Set in the Cordillera highlands of Benguet province, Hum follows an animal linguist and a reclusive cowgirl investigating a mysterious, earthquake-causing man, in what Eblahan describes as an arthouse subversion of the Western genre exploring the Philippines' post-colonial legacy. The cast also reunites Vox Humana alumni Sasa Cabalquinto and Bruce Venida, alongside Karl Medina and Cordilleran performers Jemimah Bogbog, Handiong Kapuno and Ranyag Quitasol. The film is backed by numerous international funds and institutes, including Sundance, Purin Pictures and the Hubert Bals Fund, and was developed through residencies and project markets spanning Locarno, Cannes, Berlin, Busan and Tokyo.
