Two people were arrested after police alleged they burgled a South Florida townhome belonging to Henry Parra and Adam Hlavaty, who were among seven people killed in a helicopter crash in Kenya. The case has drawn attention because the alleged burglary occurred shortly after the victims’ deaths and involved high-value property; US immigration authorities also placed a detainer on one suspect.

Police say items taken between 20 and 22 August included two luxury vehicles, documents, jewellery, electronics and artwork, including a sculpture valued at more than $500,000, from a home appraised at nearly $3 million. Investigators reportedly traced a stolen MacBook, a spare key and the Range Rover through location services to a northwest Miami-Dade address, where they found the vehicles and arrested Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Pavon-Perdomo, 24. ICE said Pavon-Perdomo is a Cuban national without lawful immigration status, while records identify Garcia as a US citizen; the Kenya crash remains under investigation.
