A jury at Leeds Crown Court has upheld Louis James’s murder conviction for killing Reece Radford, while finding Dereck Owusu guilty of manslaughter rather than murder. The verdicts came after a retrial ordered when the Court of Appeal upheld an appeal against the pair’s original convictions.

Radford, 26, was attacked in Sheffield on 29 September 2022 after intervening when Owusu assaulted a 17-year-old girl. James stabbed him, and Radford died in hospital six days later. The pair were initially convicted of murder in 2023 and are due to return to court for re-sentencing.
