Pangram extends AI detection to images and videos
Pangram has expanded its AI detection service to cover videos and images, letting subscribers assess whether clips were created or edited with AI and scan images through its Chrome extension. The move broadens a tool previously focused on AI-generated text as concerns grow about identifying synthetic media.
Pangram says its video model identified AI content with more than 98 per cent accuracy in an internal test, and can distinguish partly AI clips from fully generated ones, with a heatmap highlighting suspected areas. The company reports over 99 per cent detection of AI images with a 0.27 per cent false positive rate in testing, but warns that results are less reliable below 512 by 512 pixels; ordinary camera processing can also complicate detection. Image and video tools are available to subscribers, while free accounts can check a handful of images.
In short
- Pangram now detects AI-generated or edited video and images.
- Internal tests reported over 98 per cent video detection accuracy.
- Image checks can be uncertain, especially at low resolutions.
