Paralives’ first major update slips to next year, but when it comes you can expect some pretty meaty improvements for all of its main features

Rock Paper Shotgun ·

Paralives’ developers have delayed the game’s first major update, originally planned for the end of 2026, until next year. They say they need more time, with the update aimed at improving the game’s main features and strengthening its early access experience.

The proposed changes cover Live Mode, Build Mode and the Paramaker character creator. Plans include more relationship interactions, skills, jobs and story cards; fixes for building bugs and new furniture; and additional hairstyles, clothing and wider body-shape options. The developers say the list is not final, so features could change.

In short

  • Paralives’ first major update is delayed until next year.
  • Planned changes span Live Mode, Build Mode and Paramaker.
  • Developers say the feature list could still change.

Steelman: both sides, in good faith

The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.

The case for

A delay can be justified if it gives the developers time to make substantial improvements across Live Mode, Build Mode and Paramaker, making early access more useful and coherent for players. Sharing the planned changes also gives players a clearer sense of what the extra development time is meant to achieve, while leaving room to adjust features as work progresses.

The case against

Players may reasonably feel let down when an update expected by the end of 2026 is pushed back, especially if they bought into early access anticipating regular improvements. Because the feature list is provisional, the delay offers no guarantee that the promised additions will arrive as described, and players must wait longer to see whether the game’s current shortcomings are addressed.
