Paramount Primal has acquired ‘Tower Defense’, an original medieval action-fantasy screenplay by Evan Daugherty, the writer of ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’. The project signals the young Paramount genre label’s continued push into lower-budget, adult-oriented films, with the planned feature intended to receive an R rating.

The story is being kept under wraps, but is described as a supernatural medieval take on ‘Assault on Precinct 13’, in which a confined group fights off a sustained attack. No director or producers are attached yet, while Louis Winters is overseeing it for Paramount Primal; Daugherty’s previous films have collectively earned more than $1.5 billion worldwide.
