Singer Lauren Bennett took her own life in Kent woodland, inquest concludes
An inquest has concluded that singer Lauren Bennett died by suicide in woodland near her home in Meopham, Kent, after telling her husband she was going for a morning walk. The 36-year-old was known for appearing on the 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem” and as a member of the group GRL; the hearing also examined a deterioration in her mental health and the care she received.
Bennett’s husband, Kenny Wormald, and her father searched for her when she did not return, using her phone’s location to find her about a 15-minute walk from home. The coroner heard that she had been diagnosed with fragile X syndrome, received psychiatric care in January after several days without sleep, and later stopped medication following adverse reactions. A toxicology report found nothing of significance, and the court heard that she had not told family or care staff she intended to harm herself.
In short
- An inquest concluded Lauren Bennett died by suicide aged 36.
- Her family found her after she failed to return from a walk.
