PC Games Storefront Does What Valve Won’t, Takes Action Against AI Slop
Itch.io has added a “NoAI” filter to its Browse page, letting users hide games that disclose the use of generative AI. The change gives players a direct way to find projects that say they did not use generative AI in their creative process, as AI-generated material becomes more common across games.
The article says 54.6% of games added to Steam in October 2026 carried an AI disclosure, compared with 18.3% of titles added in 2025. Itch.io also said it had removed several terabytes of poorly optimised AI-generated models, while maintaining a policy that permits disclosed AI content if it adds substantial value. Steam requires disclosure but offers no simple filter, and Epic CEO Tim Sweeney has publicly argued against Steam’s disclosure requirement.

- 54.6% of games added to Steam in October 2026 had AI disclosures.
