NBCUniversal to fold Peacock into YouTube Premium bundle from 2027

NBCUniversal and Google's YouTube have reached a new multiyear agreement placing Peacock Premium, the ad-supported tier, inside a new YouTube Premium bundle in the US from early 2027, which NBCUniversal describes as Peacock's largest wholesale distribution deal to date. The tie-up comes as Peacock posted its first-ever quarterly profit in the second quarter of 2026, with paid subscribers reaching 48 million after 2 million net additions, giving NBCUniversal a fresh route to reach "millions" of YouTube Premium subscribers. Pricing for the combined bundle has not been disclosed, and YouTube confirmed its standalone service, currently $15.99 a month, will not rise in cost once Peacock content is folded in.

The wider agreement extends well beyond the bundle: it renews NBCUniversal's YouTube TV carriage deal (last updated October 2025), expands the international Universal+ and Hayu streaming services through YouTube Premium in select markets, and sees NBC Sports produce select live sporting events for YouTube, with some games streamed free on NBC Sports' YouTube channel. Separately, Peacock Premium ($10.99/month) becomes available as a standalone add-on via YouTube Primetime Channels later in the summer, alongside Peacock Premium Plus ($16.99/month), already offered there since late June; the two firms also plan to deepen their advertising technology partnership, including through FreeWheel, and to expand YouTube's presence on Comcast's Xfinity and Xumo platforms.

NBCUniversal is the media company behind NBC, Bravo and Peacock, its streaming service. YouTube, owned by Google, already offers a paid tier called YouTube Premium, which removes adverts and adds extra features across YouTube's video and music platforms. The two companies have now agreed to combine forces, bringing Peacock's programming into the YouTube Premium subscription in the United States rather than keeping it as a separate service people must sign up for individually.

This matters because it changes how millions of people might access NBCUniversal's shows and films, folding one streaming subscription into another rather than requiring separate sign-ups. Peacock has struggled at times to attract subscribers on its own, while YouTube has become an increasingly important place people watch television, including live sport and news. Bundling services like this is a broader trend in the streaming industry, as companies look for ways to reduce the number of separate subscriptions people need to juggle.

Beyond the bundle itself, the arrangement touches other parts of the two companies' relationship, including how NBCUniversal's channels are carried on YouTube TV, a separate live-TV streaming package, and how sports coverage and other NBCUniversal-owned services are distributed through YouTube's platforms. The financial terms and exact pricing of the new bundle have not yet been made public.
