Man admits stalking presenter Cathy Newman with letters and gifts
Christopher McKeever, 76, has admitted stalking Sky News presenter Cathy Newman by sending her letters containing explicit sexual remarks, men’s underwear and flowers over nearly two years. He continued after receiving warnings from her former employer, ITN, and pleaded guilty to stalking without fear, alarm or distress at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.
The conduct took place from 3 July 2024 to 12 April 2026. ITN sent McKeever cease-and-desist letters in April and November 2025; prosecutors said he had two similar convictions, from 2014 and 2016. The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report and a victim impact statement, with sentencing set for 25 January 2027; his bail conditions ban him from contacting Newman.
