Photographer Attacked By Settlers In The West Bank Feels Insulted By Netanyahu
Heidi Levine, a Washington Post photographer, says she is angry that Israel’s military appears to protect settlers more than Palestinians after settlers attacked her and Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. She also criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for calling the attack “alleged”, saying evidence was available; the incident has renewed scrutiny of settler violence and Israel’s response.
Levine was hospitalised with several broken vertebrae and wounds that required stitches. Israel’s president and more than a dozen former security and intelligence officials condemned the attack, while Netanyahu had not contacted her, she said. Rights groups report hundreds of Palestinians have been attacked during the olive harvest, which began in late September, and say olive trees have also been destroyed.
