Pool to shut for six months for roof repairs
Thorncliffe Leisure Centre’s pool in High Green, Sheffield, will close for six months so safety repairs can be carried out on its roof. The closure follows continuing disruption to swimming sessions, and interim repairs have not resolved the problem.
The pool is due to shut from 16 November until May next year. The council has agreed a comprehensive programme of remedial work with operator Everyone Active and builder Kier; customers will be told about membership arrangements and alternative facilities. Councillors also raised concerns about loose tiles, recurring pool closures and poor communication with members.
In short
- Thorncliffe pool will close from 16 November until May.
- Roof safety repairs follow disruption that interim work did not resolve.
- The council says members will hear about alternative facilities.
