The Pogues are embarking on a greatest hits tour across the UK this autumn, with original members James Fearnley and Spider Stacy answering fan questions beforehand. Following Shane MacGowan's death in 2023, there were questions about whether the legendary band could continue, but they have proven the doubters wrong through critically acclaimed reunion performances featuring various guest singers. This continued success demonstrates the enduring appeal and strength of the band's catalogue beyond its singular frontman.

The band's history spans from their formation in 1982 to the present day, with notable releases including their debut Red Roses for Me (1984), Rum Sodomy & the Lash (1985), and the perennially popular Christmas song Fairytale of New York (1987). After MacGowan's firing in 1991, the band eventually split in 1996, reformed in 2001, and remained inactive since 2014. Recent concerts celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut album received five-star critical reviews, and the upcoming greatest hits tour, beginning on 28 November, will feature special guest musicians from Ireland's current generation of artists.
