Pregnant woman carrying twins survives Final Destination-style nightmare after metal pole comes flying at her windshield on the highway
A pregnant woman carrying twins in California narrowly escaped serious harm when a metal pole flew through her windscreen while she was driving on the I-15 motorway. Lesley Herrera was travelling northbound near Temecula at around 2pm on Saturday when a metal bar, said to have fallen from a lorry ahead of her, pierced the windscreen of her Ram ProMaster van and struck her abdomen. Despite the frightening nature of the incident, she and her unborn twins suffered only minor injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Herrera was in the second-from-right lane when she was hit. She drove herself to the nearby Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital, and her twins are reported to be fine. Photographs from the scene showed her shattered windscreen with a hole marking where the bar entered and glass scattered across the dashboard. The incident prompted online comparisons to the horror film franchise Final Destination, known for depicting chance, chain-reaction accidents.
