Prepare to Fall in Love With ‘Sense and Sensibility’ Star Herbert Nordrum
Norwegian actor Herbert Nordrum makes his English-language debut as Colonel Brandon in Georgia Oakley’s new adaptation of Jane Austen’s *Sense and Sensibility*. The role places him in a British-led ensemble and a story familiar to many audiences, while giving him the chance to shape a character long associated with Alan Rickman’s performance.
Nordrum says he drew on Oakley’s grounded approach and his own instincts rather than rewatching the 1995 film, despite admiring Rickman and having fond memories of watching it with his family. He says Austen is less prominent in Norway than in England, where her books and adaptations are widely loved. Nordrum was previously recognised for *The Worst Person in the World*, directed by Joachim Trier, and says working with Trier helped him grow as an actor.
