Two Cleveland Police Officers Honoured at Separate Funerals Following A66 Collision

Two Cleveland Police officers, PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, died in a head-on collision on the A66 near Middlesbrough when their armed response vehicle was struck by a Volkswagen Passat carrying youths who were evading police pursuit. Both officers were killed in the tragic incident.
The officers were laid to rest in separate funeral services held in Hartlepool and Redcar, each conducted with full police honours. Hundreds of fellow officers attended the dignified ceremonies to pay their respects. An arrest for suspected assault was made during one of the services.
