Pupils who designed a badge sent to space meet NASA astronaut headed to the Moon

BBC Science ·

Pupils at Ysgol Cemaes on Anglesey spoke virtually with NASA astronaut Frank Rubio, asking about his experiences of living and working in space. The meeting matters to the school’s growing links with the space industry and gave pupils a chance to hear directly from an astronaut preparing for a future lunar mission.

Rubio is set to join the Artemis III crew, a mission aiming to return humans to the Moon in 2027. He spent 371 days on the International Space Station after a spacecraft fault delayed his return to Earth. Earlier this year, pupils designed a badge that was sent to the station; the school plans to design another for a possible space journey next year.
