A RAF Hawk T2 training jet crashed in a fireball near Rhosneigr, Anglesey, shortly after taking off from RAF Valley. Both pilots ejected and suffered minor injuries, while the aircraft came down just yards from caravans and near a family home, prompting warnings to avoid the area.

Afallon Caravan Park owner Richard Owen said wreckage and smoke spread across his field, although the caravans were largely undamaged. The lightly occupied site had about 30 caravans, and witnesses reported flames, violent pitching and two loud bangs before both parachutes opened; the cause remains unknown, with possible explanations including engine failure, a bird strike or another malfunction.
