Rangers fixed last year’s home-road split problem … and now have another one
The Rangers have reversed last season’s home and away pattern: they are winning regularly at Madison Square Garden but struggling on the road. Thursday’s 3-2 win over the Flyers was their eighth in 10 home games, and a four-game trip now gives them a chance to improve their poor away record.
New York is 1-5-1 on the road, scoring 1.7 goals per game compared with 3.9 at home. Last season, the Rangers went 14-20-7 at home and 20-19-2 away. Their eight home wins are tied for the second most in the first 10 games of a season in team history; goalie Dylan Garand has five home wins, while Joonas Korpisalo has rejoined the team after recovering from a foot infection.
In short
- The Rangers have won eight of their first 10 home games.
- They have a 1-5-1 road record and average 1.7 goals per game away.
- Goalie Joonas Korpisalo has returned after a foot infection.
