Rangers’ Sean Durzi finally goes on IR but already is eligible to return
The Rangers placed defenceman Sean Durzi on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, making him the fourth regular in their line-up to go on IR or long-term IR. The move clarifies his status after he had been playing through the injury for weeks, though his return date remains uncertain.
The designation is backdated to 26 October, so Durzi has already served the required seven days and can be activated at any time. Coach Mike Sullivan said Durzi might not initially join the team’s upcoming Seattle and Western Canada trip, depending on his recovery. The Rangers beat the Flyers 3-2; Scott Morrow played his third consecutive game in Durzi’s place, while goalie Joonas Korpisalo could return from a foot infection after making 34 saves in a conditioning game.
In short
- Durzi is on IR with a lower-body injury.
- His retroactive designation means he is already eligible to return.
- Korpisalo could rejoin the Rangers as soon as Friday.
