This development emerges from a Wall Street Journal article documenting Lee's career, which lists Silent Hill alongside God of War and Battlefield as projects currently in his portfolio. The news follows the poorly-received "Return to Silent Hill" earlier this year, in which Lee was not involved, and potentially signals a shift in fortune for Konami's notoriously unsuccessful film franchise.

Lee's involvement is significant given his recent track record with Resident Evil, which has become a critical and commercial success, topping the US box office and on course to become the highest-grossing Resident Evil adaptation in the country. The Silent Hill film franchise has struggled considerably, with only the 2006 original receiving moderate praise whilst subsequent entries have been poorly received.
