Explained simply

Blade Runner is a science-fiction story set in a future where human-like androids, called replicants, are made for work and can be difficult to distinguish from people. The original film, released in 1982, followed a police officer tasked with finding replicants; its 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049, expanded the story and explored questions about identity and what makes someone human.

Blade Runner 2099 is a limited series set 50 years after the sequel, in a Los Angeles facing an uncertain future. Michelle Yeoh plays Olwen, an ageing replicant, and Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive who assumes the role of a Blade Runner; their pursuit of a runaway links the characters’ fates to the city’s future.
