Rob Lowe Says ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ Sequel Is Still ‘In the Works,’ Confirms There’s a Script: ‘All of Us Actors Want to Do It’
Rob Lowe says a sequel to the 1985 film “St. Elmo’s Fire” is still in development, with the cast keen to return. He said they are due to receive a draft of the script in the first week of October, marking a new step forward for a project first announced in 2024.
Lowe offered few other details, and the sequel remains at an early stage. Demi Moore previously said discussions were under way with Sony, which backed the original, and that the studio was seeking a writer; an earlier television adaptation announced in 2019 did not proceed. The original film, directed and co-written by Joel Schumacher, starred Lowe, Moore, Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy and Judd Nelson.
