Explained simply

Dune is a science-fiction story about power and survival on the desert planet Arrakis. Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, becomes its ruler; the next film is set nearly 20 years after Dune: Part Two and follows the consequences of his rule.

Denis Villeneuve directs the film, which also stars Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Anya Taylor-Joy and Robert Pattinson. It is due in cinemas on 18 December 2026, the same day as Avengers: Doomsday, so advance ticket sales offer an early indication of interest in one of that date’s major releases.
