Rockstar says GTA 6 runs at 30 FPS, while it’s reportedly unsure about a 60 FPS performance mode

Eurogamer · 6 hours ago

Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson has reportedly said that Grand Theft Auto 6 currently runs at 30 frames per second on consoles, following scrutiny of the game’s latest trailer. The frame-rate matters because players increasingly expect optional higher-performance modes, while GTA 6’s highly detailed visuals are likely to place heavy demands on current-generation hardware.

Digital Foundry believes the trailer appears to show a native 1440p presentation on PlayStation 5 with a mostly stable, well-paced 30 FPS output, though the video itself was capped at 30 FPS and may conceal additional drops. Rockstar has not confirmed whether a 60 FPS mode, resolution options, ray tracing features, or improvements for PS5 Pro and Xbox Series S will be available; the company has been contacted for clarification. The report also notes recent leaked videos and ongoing employment tribunal claims from former Rockstar North staff alleging union-busting.

  • GTA 6 is reportedly targeting 30 FPS on current consoles.
  • A 60 FPS performance mode remains unconfirmed.
  • Trailer analysis suggests stable 1440p, 30 FPS on PS5.
