Rosario Dawson Says Her ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Cameo ‘Got Cut Out’ and Her Mom Told Her ‘That Sucks’: ‘I Hope I Get to Be Claire Again’

Variety · 4 hours ago

Rosario Dawson has revealed that a cameo she filmed for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" was ultimately cut from the finished film. Dawson plays nurse Claire Temple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a role she has held since "Daredevil" in 2015, and her cut scene meant a potential reunion with the character within the wider Spider-Man storyline did not make it to screen.

Dawson shared the news at a "Daredevil" fan Q&A alongside Vincent D'Onofrio at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, North Carolina, describing how her mother reacted with disappointment that she could no longer post behind-the-scenes photos. Despite the setback, Dawson said she still hopes to reprise the role of Claire in future, noting that Spider-Man holds personal significance for her family. "Brand New Day," starring Tom Holland, has become the year's highest-grossing film with over $1.6 billion worldwide, reaching $1 billion in just six days.
