Sam Neill Final Film Is ‘The Legend Of Zelda’; Dichen Lachman & Yvonne Strahovski Also Set – The Dish

Deadline · 3 weeks ago

The upcoming live-action film adaptation of "The Legend of Zelda" will feature one of the final screen performances of actor Sam Neill, who died on 13 July at the age of 78. According to Deadline's sources, Neill's role has not yet been disclosed, but his involvement was confirmed after the project wrapped filming in April, meaning the appearance will stand as one of his last, if not his very last, on-screen credit before his death.

Two further casting additions have also emerged: Dichen Lachman, known for "Severance", is reported to be playing Impa, bodyguard and advisor to Princess Zelda (played by Bo Bragason), while Yvonne Strahovski of "The Handmaid's Tale" is said to be portraying an as-yet-unspecified queen character. The pair join previously announced leads Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bragason as Zelda, alongside Uli Latukefu, revealed the same day as playing villain Ganondorf. Directed by Wes Ball and produced by Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad, the Sony-distributed film is scheduled for release on 7 May 2027.
