Samson studio shuts down as console success ‘wasn’t enough to get the company across the finish line’

Destructoid ·

Liquid Swords, the studio behind the action-adventure crime game *Samson*, is closing, founder and chief executive Christofer Sundberg has announced. He attributed the shutdown to difficult market conditions and poor business decisions, saying that the game’s stronger console performance still did not bring in enough sales to keep the company operating.

*Samson* launched around six months ago and had a Metacritic average of 51. Its Steam player count peaked at 2,722 in April, while the console versions, released a month ago, were better received than the PC release. Sundberg said he is discussing ways to continue supporting the game; the studio’s closure leaves its staff without jobs.
