Samsung Health sleep coaching now starts with three days of data

Engadget ·

Samsung has updated Samsung Health’s Sleep Coaching feature so eligible users need only three days of sleep data from the previous two weeks to begin, down from a full week of consecutive data. The change makes personalised sleep guidance available sooner and adds new tools for runners.

Users complete a survey about their sleep habits and satisfaction, then receive a tailored programme lasting four to eight weeks, with weekly recommendations, daily tips and a five-part Sleep Balance graph. The update supports Galaxy Watch 4 or later, Galaxy Fit 3 and Galaxy Ring; Running Coach also gains two training levels, improved sharing and the ability to import Strava routes. The features are due to roll out this month.

  • Sleep Coaching now starts with three days of recent sleep data.
  • Programmes are tailored to users’ goals and habits.
  • Running Coach adds levels and Strava route imports.

Samsung Health is a service for tracking health and exercise, including sleep. Its Sleep Coaching feature uses a person’s sleep records and answers about their habits and satisfaction to offer guidance over several weeks.

The feature is designed for people using compatible Samsung devices, such as some Galaxy watches, the Galaxy Fit 3 or Galaxy Ring. Samsung’s Running Coach is another part of the service, aimed at people training to run; it offers training guidance and tools for sharing or using routes.

These tools matter because they turn data collected by wearable devices into practical advice. They also depend on users having a supported device and providing enough information for the service to tailor its guidance.
