Samsung has confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on 22nd July, using the tagline "A new shape unfolds" to tease a fresh format for its foldable phones. The teaser is significant because it appears to confirm long-standing rumours that Samsung will add a third foldable format — a shorter, wider version of its book-style foldables — putting it in more direct competition with Huawei's Pura X Max and Apple's anticipated foldable iPhone.

The invitation shows a tall ticket with the stub torn off, leaving it shorter than usual, which is read as a hint towards the new wider shape. Alongside the new foldable, Samsung is expected to refresh its existing Flip and Fold phones, with the Fold potentially rebranded as the Z Fold 8 Ultra to distinguish it from the new form factor, plus likely updates to the mainline Galaxy Watch and premium Ultra model. The event will be held in London and begins at 9am ET on 22nd July.
