‘Scary Movie’ Sets Paramount+ Release Date

Scary Movie (also known as Scary Movie 6) will begin streaming on Paramount+ from 3 September, 91 days after its cinema release. The film reunited the Wayans brothers and became a major box-office success, helping push the long-running horror-comedy franchise past $1 billion in lifetime global earnings.

The reboot, made for around $30 million before marketing costs, has taken in more than $230 million worldwide, including a franchise-record opening of $105.5 million. It is the first purely R-rated comedy to cross $100 million since Girls Trip in 2017, arriving 13 years after Scary Movie 5 and 26 years after the original. Directed by Michael Tiddes and written by the Wayans family alongside Rick Alvarez, the film brings back Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Regina Hall and Anna Faris, alongside newcomers including Kenan Thompson and Damon Wayans Jr.
