Scott Bakula To Make LA Opera Debut This Fall In ‘Candide’ Opposite Patti LuPone
Scott Bakula will make his LA Opera debut this autumn in Leonard Bernstein’s *Candide*, joining Patti LuPone in Francesca Zambello’s production. The casting brings the actor, best known for television roles, to a major opera stage and pairs him with LuPone, who returns to a role she performed in 2004.
Bakula will play both Voltaire and Dr Pangloss, while tenor Duke Kim takes the title role and soprano Meghan Picerno plays Cunegunde; LuPone reprises the Old Lady. The production runs for six performances at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion between 21 November and 13 December, conducted by Lina González-Granados. Bakula has also appeared on Broadway, including a Tony-nominated role in *Romance/Romance*.
