Williamson had been appointed in September 2024 as Mark Dodson’s successor and began work in early 2025, before being placed on extended leave in late May without explanation. Chief financial officer David White will serve as interim chief executive while Scottish Rugby recruits a replacement, ahead of autumn Nations Championship matches, the Six Nations and the 2027 World Cup in Australia.
