Joanne Sheen, a 44-year-old mother-of-three, went missing in December 2019 and was found dead in August 2026 when her remains were discovered following a wildfire in Feltham, south-west London. Two men, both aged 56 from Southampton, have now been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, marking a significant breakthrough in an investigation that had stalled for several years.

Ms Sheen was last seen on 5 December 2019 when she travelled to Southampton and was reported missing by her family in February 2020 after several months without contact. Police carried out extensive investigations involving over 4,000 lines of enquiry, 300 statements, and searches at more than 10 addresses, but initially struggled to progress the case. In November 2020, officers revealed they believed she was a sex worker in Southampton at the time of her disappearance. Six people were arrested in late 2020 on conspiracy to murder charges but were released with no further action due to insufficient evidence. The first of the two new arrests was made on Thursday 17 September 2026, with the second man re-arrested on Sunday, both bailed pending further enquiries.
