A collection of wine bottles, some around 130 years old, has been uncovered hidden beneath the chapel floor of Bečov Castle, a medieval fortress in the western Czech Republic dating back to the early 14th century. The discovery is notable both for the age and rarity of the find and for the secrecy of its original concealment, offering a glimpse into the castle's history and past inhabitants.

The bottles have since undergone careful restoration by the renowned French winery Château d'Yquem before being put on public display. The find echoes other recent historic alcohol discoveries, such as a 150-year-old bottle unearthed at a former mining town in Utah, highlighting growing interest in preserving and authenticating centuries-old drinks.
