Speaking to Metal Hammer around the first anniversary of his death, Sharon said the response to his memory had been overwhelming, insisting his influence on rock and metal remains undimmed. The plans underline the continued cultural significance of Osbourne, who helped define heavy metal both as Black Sabbath's frontman and as the driving force behind the original Ozzfest festival.

The revived Ozzfest, which helped shape metal in the late 1990s and early 2000s, will be held at Villa Park in Birmingham, close to Osbourne's home city. It forms part of a broader 12 months of tributes that also include a film capturing the Back To The Beginning farewell concert and a controversial AI-generated avatar of the singer. Sharon Osbourne made the comments in an interview featured in the latest issue of Metal Hammer magazine.
