Chicago musician Kai Slater, a member of the band Lifeguard and a figure in the city's youthful Hallogallo scene, has released a new single called "Saturday Sun" under his solo project Sharp Pins. The track is described as a swaggering piece of 1960s-influenced garage-pop, and its arrival underlines Slater's prolific output as a songwriter following last year's well-received album Balloon Balloon Balloon.

Sharp Pins releases music through Perennial, an imprint of K Records. Alongside the new single, Perennial has announced plans to reissue Mod Mayday 23, a Sharp Pins tape Slater originally put out in 2023 while still a teenager. The "Saturday Sun" release is accompanied by a tour-life video directed by Jolie M-A.
