Sheffield sheltered housing residents fear ‘blind’ junction outside their homes

YorkshireLive Sheffield ·

Residents of Fairthorn sheltered housing in Dore, Sheffield, say a nearby crossroads is hazardous because high hedges obstruct drivers’ views. They raised the issue at a council committee meeting, seeking measures to make the junction safer for residents and road users.

The roads involved are Townhead Road, Newfield Lane and Whitelow Lane. Resident David Thornby also pointed to signage marking the end of the 30mph zone, while Margaret Willatt described visibility as poor from every side. Councillor Alexi Dimond said the council would remove overgrown vegetation, but improvements are prioritised according to safety evidence and limited funding.
