Soccer Drama ‘Forza’ Sets Indonesia Release, Global Rollout (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 1 hour ago

Riva Studios has confirmed that its family sports drama "Forza" will open theatrically in Indonesia in late 2026, ahead of a wider international rollout in early 2027, alongside the release of the film's teaser. The film marks several firsts for the independent production company, co-founded by Balsamo and Tara Sibel Demren in 2022, being both Riva's debut live-action feature and Balsamo's first outing as a director, with Adhya Pictures handling Indonesian distribution while further sales partners are expected to be announced.

The story follows Bima, an 11-year-old boy from a struggling Bali community played by newcomer Ghazi Alhabsyi, whose chance meeting with veteran footballer Marco Cagliostro (played by Balsamo) leads towards a tryout with AC Milan's youth academy. Shot across Indonesia and Italy, the cast includes Atiqah Hasiholan, Oka Antara and former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta, with music from artists including Coast Contra and Saykoji. Riva Studios is targeting Indonesia specifically as a growth market, citing its 280 million population, roughly 126.2 million cinema admissions in 2024 (65% for domestic films) and a comparatively low national screen count of around 2,350.
