The classification matters as it sets expectations for the tone of the title ahead of its September launch, marking what could be Insomniac's most graphic release to date.

The ESRB's summary cites blood and gore, drug references, intense violence, partial nudity and strong language, noting a "handful of sequences briefly depict a character's exposed buttocks" — presumed to be Wolverine himself. Combat features dismemberment, decapitation and slow-motion finishers, though players will reportedly be able to tone down the blood and gore, unlike the nudity or profanity. Marvel's Wolverine is due to launch on 15th September 2026.
