‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Becomes Fastest Movie to Hit $800M at Domestic Box Office

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the fastest film ever to reach $800 million at the North American box office, hitting the milestone in just 19 days. Sony Pictures confirmed the achievement on Wednesday, with the Tom Holland-led superhero film's domestic total now standing at $803.9 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing domestic release of all time. The record-breaking pace underscores the film's exceptional commercial run since its late July release, cementing it as one of the standout box office performers in recent memory.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and also starring Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, sits just behind 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home ($814.8 million) on the all-time domestic chart, with Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ahead of it. It previously took Force Awakens 23 days to reach $800 million domestically. Brand New Day also passed $2 billion globally over the weekend, becoming the eighth film ever to do so and overtaking No Way Home as Sony's highest-grossing release worldwide, having already set records for the biggest domestic opening weekend ($360 million) and the highest-grossing first week domestically.
