Spider-Man: Brand New Day Featured the Return of Rosario Dawson’s Marvel Character Clare Temple — Until the Scene Was Cut
Actress Rosario Dawson has revealed that she filmed a cameo as nurse Clare Temple for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, marking her first appearance as the character in more than six years — only for the scene to be cut from the finished film. Speaking at GalaxyCon, Dawson did not explain why the scene had been removed, leaving fans without answers about a character who has been notably absent from Marvel's recent Netflix-era revivals despite numerous other figures returning.
Dawson played Temple across 32 episodes of Marvel's Netflix shows, first appearing in Daredevil before crossing over into Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders, and having a romantic relationship with Luke Cage. The cameo had previously been rumoured by insider DanielRPK, who suggested last year that Temple would return to help a wounded hero, with the film's UK shoot dates overlapping with Dawson's work on Ahsoka. With the scene now cut, it remains unclear if or when Clare Temple might reappear, even as Daredevil: Born Again continues reuniting other Netflix-era characters. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set for release in cinemas on 31 July 2026.
