Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest instalment in Tom Holland's run as the web-slinger, has received strongly positive early reviews ahead of its cinema release on 31 July. The film currently holds a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a notable result given the high expectations following the success of the previous outing, No Way Home, and marks the film out as a serious contender at the summer box office.

The film stars Holland alongside Zendaya and Jon Bernthal, with Sadie Sink appearing in a role yet to be disclosed, and is expected to challenge for $1 billion globally. It is also tipped to overtake Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which has already taken close to $700 million in its first fortnight, as the biggest film currently in cinemas. The review comes shortly after Marvel Studios used its San Diego Comic-Con panel to reveal major future plans, including David Jonsson as the new Black Panther and Ryan Gosling starring in a Shawn Levy-directed Ghost Rider film, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday's release on 18 December.
