‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Topping Box Office for Sixth Weekend in a Row

Sony and Marvel's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is set to top the North American box office for a sixth consecutive weekend, earning roughly $22 million over the four-day Labor Day frame. The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film has now passed $900 million domestically, making it only the second film ever to do so after 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($936 million), a record it is expected to overtake soon. Its dominance underlines a notably quiet post-summer box office, with new releases failing to make much of a dent.
Globally, "Brand New Day" has surpassed $2.33 billion, ranking third all-time behind "Avatar" and "Avengers: Endgame" after overtaking "Avatar: The Way of Water". Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey", also starring Tom Holland, is set for second place with about $16.4 million, bringing its domestic total to $588.1 million. Among newcomers, Paramount's crime drama "By Any Means" is projected to earn around $7 million, while A24's "Onslaught" is expected to bring in roughly $2 million, well below last year's Labor Day leader "Weapons", which took $48.7 million over the same holiday period.
