‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Officially Returns With 5 New Adventures

IDW Publishing is collecting the five-issue comic miniseries *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy — Lost Contact* in a trade paperback, giving fans a new story featuring the series’ cadets before the television show returns. The release offers another look at the Academy’s students as they face a mission that goes wrong and encounter unfamiliar life.

Set in the 32nd century, the series follows a Federation rebuilding after the Burn, a disaster that killed billions and made space travel perilous. In the comic, Caleb, Genesis, Jay-Den, Kyle and Tarima are cut off from their instructors during what was meant to be a routine mission on an uninhabited planet. Written by Layne Morgan with art by Corali Espuna, the paperback is due in shops on 27 January 2027; the TV series is also set to return for its second and final season early next year.
